This is one of the greatest misconceptions about Islam which has been repeated numerous times to a point most take it to be the truth. Remember what Adolf Hitler said “Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it”
In the Qur’an, we are taught this as regards to the above claim:
“There is no compulsion in religion. Verily the right path has become distinct from the wrong path.”
Qur’an 2: 256
“Invite to the way of your Lord with Wisdom and fair preaching and argue with them in a way that is better.”
Qur’an 16: 125
Currently, the largest growing religion in the West is Islam where we are seeing a huge number of converts especially women. This begs a question, which sword is forcing people in the West, who exercise strong liberal views, to accept Islam?
We see in numerous quotations of the Ahaadeeth of Prophet Muhammad during the early days of his mission. There are lots of his followers who accepted Islam just because of the good example and morals they saw in Prophet Muhammad (pbuh.)
