IICK MAIN ACTIVITIES:

  •  Free classes for new Muslims.
  • A library facility open to the public.
  • Outreach programs where we issue free Islamic literature to non-Muslims.
  • Da’wah training
  • Street da’wah
  • Da’wah tables
  • School visits
  • Institutional da’wah
  • Sponsoring revert students studying in Majlisul al-maarif Islamiyyah {Boarding facility}.

IICK has been having interactive debates held at the centre between people of different faiths, either in groups or just individuals.

We also involve renowned Muslim comparative debaters who have a vast experience in such instances where Islam is preached with no derogatory inference to other faiths.

(a) “Brothers’ keeper” outreach programs:

Majorly an outreach program targeting colleges, universities and high schools where a day is chosen to have lectures at the institutions, targeting Muslims who as a requirement will have to come along with a Non-Muslim friend.

(b) Revert program in far flung areas.

As studies have shown, there are people, who live in areas far from the CBD who need Islam and our services more. This includes a batch of Muslims too who are born into Islam but have never practised it.

Some New Muslims in such areas are also in dire need of our revert program to enable them comprehend basic acts of worship.

We may not necessarily have a presence there but we could lend a helping hand in ensuring the concerned parties are well equipped to handle New Muslim cases in their respective areas.

(c) Guidance and counselling centre.

We have had the privilege, if we may call it so, of dealing with New Muslim cases right from the moment they say their Shahada. As such, we have been in a vantage position of being part of their growth progress and we are very familiar with the struggles they go through.

There are many instances where their families put them through so much that they are pushed to the verge of giving up their new faith.

The presence of a guidance and counselling point reassures and encourages them to remain steadfast in spite of the trials. Those who remain patient have come out stronger and better Muslims who are now an inspiration to others facing similar trials.

(d) Da’wah Programs.

IICK has been with partnering with like-minded Islamic organizations by facilitating training seminars and sessions to enlighten Muslims on the best methodology of propagating Islam.

By using the network created in the “Brothers’ keepers” program, IICK has managed to train and deploy Da’wah ambassadors from various institutions of higher learning to propagate Islam.

(d) Iftar program:

Every year, IICK offers ration packages to students as the month of Ramadhan begins and provides daily meals for breaking the fast. This is incorporated in the centre’s Ramadhan class program which provides daily lectures on different elements of worship other than the regular syllabus.

By providing meals, IICK ensures that the students are never in a rush to leave the lectures so as to get their Iftar elsewhere. This has also imbued n them the spirit of brotherhood while improving on important etiquettes of daily Muslim life.

(f) Da’wah tables and Issuance of brochures/ pamphlets.

In a bid to spread and propagate correct Islam, the centre engages in daily activities which involve having a Da’wah table at designated parts of Mombasa CBD for a specific duration of time.

The participants engage the public in interactive one-on-one discussions about Islam while offering free brochures and Islamic literature. To achieve proper impact, the centre works on monthly themes by printing brochures with relevant topics which deal exhaustively with the said theme.

Through the good will of other individuals, the centre has made brochure holders which have been issued to offices, hospitals and other public places, containing the pamphlets.

Currently, by employing the services of the volunteers, the centre has put in place a proper strategy to not only ensure that all brochure holders are constantly supplied with pamphlets but also to have English copies of the Qur’an and other comparative books to be placed in the same places.
